Fitbit users are complaining about being forced to move to the Google Health app

“Thank you, Google, for ruining Fitbit,” it read single post, which received nearly 2,000 upvotes on the r/fitbit subreddit. “I’ve been using Fitbit for over 10 years and canceled my premium membership today. On social media sites like Reddit, some longtime Fitbit users have shared their distaste for the new Google Health user interface, which they say is less intuitive and customizable than the old Fitbit app. Others are upset that Google appears to have removed previously available data, such as certain sleep tracking statistics and in-app challenges.

Ever since the release of Google Health, Fitbit users have been bombarding the app negative reviews on Google Play.

“The overhaul of the original Fitbit app is really bad,” reads one review on the Google Play Store. “It forces AI on you all the time, all the information in the app is AI based, except for the raw data collected by your Fitbit device. Bad app, 0/10 I CANNOT recommend. I’ll take the Fitbit app back over this piece of garbage any day.”

“It doesn’t have as much information as the Fitbit, it can’t track daily activities, it doesn’t have a stress component,” read another. “I think I’ll get an Apple Watch.”

On Google’s part, the company seems to recognize the seriousness of the situation and has already responded with a roadmap to address user issues with the app.

According to Google, it is currently working on a series of improvements and bug fixes for the Google Health app. A list of those changes can be found on Google’s support site and will be released starting this week.
