The surprise departure of Caitlin Clark and Morgan Wallen to start his concert at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday night drew mixed reviews from WNBA fans who thought that the Indiana Fever had lost their first season of the season.
Clark and the Fever were unable to defeat the Dallas Wings in a 107-104 loss to open the 2026 WNBA season.
But Clark, who had 20 points, seven assists and five rebounds despite the loss, wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to go out with the popular country music star during his signing to start his career on the road.

The crowd at Lucas Oil Stadium booed Clark, who got into a fight with Wallen as they passed through the bowels of the stadium.
Since Barstool Sports posted a clip on X, social media users jumped into the comments to share their feelings about seeing Clark, who had to go back to the locker room during the first season to get here “fixed,” even though he played 31 minutes, with Wallen.
CAITLIN CLARK MISSES THE GAME IN THE LAST 3 SECONDS WITH A FAST SHOT BACK TO THE FLOOR.
“I’m sorry.. you didn’t go back to defending yourself again [Wings star] Paige [Bueckers] 20 drops for you. And you miss 3 at the end and take the L. Do better,” wrote user X.
Clark had a chance to make it a three-pointer with seven seconds left in the game, but missed.
Some had issues with Clark having Wallen at all, as he caused controversy after being filmed making racial remarks while on camera in 2021.

“Dating a racist? Not a good look,” wrote another X user.
But not all of the responses are serious in the comments, as one user called Clark and Wallen “DOUBLE QUESTIONS.”
Even Fever bandmate Sophie Cunningham loved seeing Clark in concert, calling him “bada-b—-” on her Instagram Story.
While Clark and the Fever hope to win more in 2026, fans should be happy that Clark has been playing the team’s best minutes after dealing with multiple injuries that limited him to just 13 games in 2025.

“It’s out of line real quick,” Clark said of his back after the loss, according to the New York Post. “So, just to get my back in place a little bit. But other than that, feel good.”
The Fever are back on the West Coast on Wednesday, as they face the Los Angeles Sparks.
