Liverpool will launch an “absurd” £43m bid for the star

Liverpool have lacked flair and spark in their attacking play at the other end of the pitch at times in the Premier League with Arne Slot in charge this season.
While the Dutchman may be blamed for the system or the tactics used on the pitch, the Reds are also lacking in smart and intelligent attacking players.
Mohamed Salah put in a ton of work last season, creating 27 ‘big chances’ and assisting 18 in the Premier League, en route to PFA Player of the Year.
The Egyptian striker has yet to reach that level, however, as he has created ten ‘big chances’ and registered six assists in 25 games in a top-flight record for the Reds.
Therefore, one of the priorities of the summer transfer window, should be to find more talented players who can provide a spark on the pitch next season.
Liverpool could make a bid to sign the Ligue 1 star
One of Liverpool’s most prolific players in the last decade or so was Brazilian wizard Roberto Firmino, who scored 111 goals and provided 76 assists in 362 games for the club.
The Brazilian international has been a joy to watch throughout his time at Anfield as he had an incredible technical quality and creative mind that allowed him to link attacks and create opportunities for his teammates.
Now, the Premier League giants are reportedly eyeing a player who could arrive at Anfield as a slot version of Firmino next season.
According to L’Equipe, Liverpool are one of many clubs interested in signing Monaco midfielder Magnes Akliouche in next summer’s transfer window.
Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United were all interested in a deal for the star last year, but were unwilling to pay his £60m fee at the time.
Now, L’Equipe are reporting that the Reds are expected to make a bid for the French talent this year and that it could cost £43m to bring the attacker to England.
The outlet claims that Liverpool and PSG are both in the race to secure his services and that Monaco are willing to agree to a move this time around, but it remains to be seen whether £43m will be enough to tempt them to cash in.
How Magnes Akliouche could be Liverpool’s new Roberto Firmino
Before moving to Liverpool, Firmino played just nine of Hoffenheim’s 153 games as a striker. He used to play as an attacking midfielder, right winger, or second striker for the German side.
Akliouche usually plays as an attacking midfielder or right winger for Monaco, making 107 starts in those two roles, but has scored two goals in three appearances as the French club’s top scorer.
Like Firmino, the France international could be transformed into a dynamic striker for Liverpool, with the experience of being an innovative and creative number ten on the right wing.

Akliouche was one of the most efficient players in Ligue 1 in the 2024/25 campaign, creating 15 ‘big chances’ and providing ten assists, and managed just one fewer assist than Rayan Cherki.
The French star has continued to shine in the Premier League with Manchester City, scoring 10 goals and assisting a further 15 this season, suggesting the Monaco talent could follow in his footsteps.
Liverpool’s £43m transfer target, dubbed “ridiculous” by Ben Mattinson, has shown his creativity as a goalscorer and goalscorer for Monaco over the past two seasons, scoring 14 goals and providing 22 assists in all competitions.
Having created 37 ‘big chances’ in all competitions since the start of the 2024/25 campaign, only Salah (52) could be better for Liverpool, suggesting he could be just what Liverpool need to spark their attack.
With Salah on his way out in the summer, the Reds need players who can unlock opposition defenses and provide moments of magic in the final third, and Akliouche is that type of player.
The 24-year-old wizard would be the perfect signal for Liverpool, therefore, as he can provide a threat as a goalscorer and a goal-scorer and provide the kind of innovation in central areas that the club has been lacking since Firmino left Anfield.
