“Best young coach in the world” wants to be Man Utd manager

Manchester United are still considering alternatives to interim manager Michael Carrick, with AFC Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola looking for a permanent job.

Man Utd secure early Champions League qualification

As we approach the end of the Premier League season, Man United looks set to finish in third place, as they are six points behind their closest rivals, Liverpool, with only two games remaining.

There has been a change for Michael Carrick, who has already secured Champions League football next season, and was pleased with his side’s attitude in their recent 0-0 draw at Sunderland, despite failing to take all three points.

Carrick says: “We know that we were not completely at our level today, I think we had very good results and did very well. Today was a different side for us and sometimes it doesn’t come easily and it’s very challenging, [you need to] take something from the game and today we did that.

“I thought we finished strong and I thought we were going to win it at the end. It was a really good mindset from the boys today.”

Considering that no Premier League team has collected more points than United since Carrick was appointed in January, he seems to be the right choice for the job, and INEOS are expected to hire the former Middlesbrough manager on a permanent basis.

Man Utd are eyeing Iraola as an alternative to Carrick

This came from the Caught Offside report, which also says that Iraola is looking for a job, as the Bournemouth manager will leave the Cherries at the end of the season, and is at the top of the Red Devils’ list of possible replacements for Carrick.

The Spanish player has done an excellent job for Bournemouth, his team is knocking on the door of the Champions League qualifiers, having played 16 games without losing in the Premier League.

As things stand, the Vitality Stadium outfit are in sixth place, not good enough to qualify for Europe’s elite competition, if Aston Villa manage to win the Europa League.

Sky Sports commentator Sam Tighe described the 43-year-old as “the best young coach in the world”, and he has a wealth of managerial experience, having spent time in Cyprus, Spain and England.

That said, it would be a strange decision not to give Carrick the job at this point, as the England manager has maintained a good record since being appointed as interim manager earlier this year.
