Everton are now set to target 30-goal national hero Thierno Barry.

Everton are looking to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window, with Friedkin’s side now planning a move for AZ Alkmaar star Troy Parrott.

Thierno Barry is trying to force his way into David Moyes’ plans

Thierno Barry is the Toffees’ eighth most expensive player, having been signed from Villarreal for £27m last summer, but it was far from a perfect debut campaign for the Frenchman at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Barry has hit the ground running since the end of February, being used as a substitute for David Moyes in the last six Premier League games, with Beto getting the opening goal instead.

Despite Moyes’ side being beaten 2-1 by Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, Beto scored for the fourth time in his last three games, suggesting Barry may have his career cut short forcing him back into the starting XI for the remaining five games.

However, the 28-year-old had scored just four Premier League goals all season before his latest spell, suggesting Moyes may need to bring in a more consistent striker in the summer transfer window.

Parrott would fit the bill, having scored a whopping 30 goals in all competitions for AZ Alkmaar this season, while also making headlines for the Irish national team.

Indeed, the 24-year-old player became a national hero after scoring a superb goal against Hungary to secure Ireland a place in the semi-finals of the World Cup qualifiers.

Interestingly, Everton are now planning a summer move for Parrott, according to a report from TEAMtalk, and they could have an opportunity in the race to sign the Ireland international, as he is believed to have been a young Toffees fan.

Although the former Tottenham Hotspur man has been playing in the Eredivisie, he has fared better in the league this season than Barry, suggesting he could be even better.
